HISTORY of EMB
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was established in Hardwar in the early sixties. With a large number of employees joining this Public Sector Undertaking, the educational facilities at "Panchpuri" and BHEL Township were inadequate to impart education to the wards of BHEL employees. This necessitated the need to start schools of primary level in BHEL campus, which gradually grew to the level of middle/ junior high schools, High Schools and later on Intermediate College. To manage these institutions, a body was formed in the name of "Bharat Heavy Electricals Shiksha Samiti (BHE Education Society) and registered under Society Registration Act in the year 1965.
BHEL also provided financial support in substantial measure to this society. Other educational societies were also in existence in BHEL Township such as Shishu Vihar Samiti. As the number of schools running under this society increased and other schools such as D.P.S. Hardwar and Kendriya Vidyalyas were established in BHEL campus, BHEL management felt the need to setup a separate society to govern its schools.
Thus, the erstwhile "BHE Education Society" was dissolved and "BHEL Educational Management Board (EMB)" was formed and registered as a society on 6th April, 1977 (Reg. No - 40273I). Shishu Vihar Samiti was also absorbed in EMB. BHEL has been providing financial assistance to EMB. Salary and personnel payments are met from BHEL grant.
